Your morning routine and the secret power it has
When you first wake up in the morning, what do you do? Do you have a set routine? Did you know that having a routine in the morning can be a powerful way to set the tone for the rest of your day? Here’s my morning routine.
Upon waking up, I take my meds. One of the meds I take requires an empty stomach, and it requires me to not eat or drink for thirty minutes after. For someone who used to enjoy that first cup of coffee soon after waking up, that was a serious adjustment, but it’s one I’ve made. Then I shuffle to the restroom for that business. After that, I start the coffee.
Now that’s just what I’m physically doing, but there is more to the story. I’m also shaking off the cobwebs to wake up, and I’m sure you understand that. But, recently, I have been working something new into my morning routine, and I would like to share it with you. I have been working morning affirmations into my routine.
What are affirmations?
I’m glad you asked.
Affirmations are encouraging words or actions that can be used to affirm a positive mindset. In other words, as I am going through my morning routine, I am saying things like this.
“Today is going to be a good day.”
“Today, I choose to be happy.”
“I believe in myself.”
Sounds corny, you say? That’s what I said before I started doing this, and I can honestly tell you the difference in my outlook has been staggering. In addition to this, the difference in the way I respond to negative things happening has also been staggering.
Give this a try, starting in the morning. There are dozens of sites that can give you a positive affirming statement you can use to start your day. You’d be amazed at how much of a difference it can make.
