Why the lily pad is not the best place for you

“Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.”

Benjamin Desraeli

In the introduction to Finding Your Personal Mission, there is a riddle about frogs on lily pads. Half of the frogs on a hundred lily pads had decided to jump off, but the riddle points out that there is more to achieving your goals than deciding you want to do so.

By now, if you’ve been following this blog, you know that my focus is on helping people overcome the obstacles that can lead to suicidal thoughts and ideations. Throughout this blog as well as throughout the book, Finding Your Personal Mission, you will see a theme that you need to make a purposeful decision that you want to overcome these obstacles, but that’s not all.

You need to pair that decision with action. Never forget that the decision is an important first step, but it is still only the first. This does not mean you will automatically be happy because you moved. But if you aren't happy now, you won't be until you do. Until you move, you are still on that lily pad looking for happiness.
