How are you holding up?
How are you holding up these days? Life has thrown a lot at you, and even though I don’t know the full extent of it, I do know that it has. As crazy as 2020 was, in some ways, 2021 seems to be aiming to top it, and sometimes that can be too much.
Lately, I’ve had to say goodbye to some friends. Some are no longer with us, and some are just no longer in my life. Of those that are no longer with us, a couple made that decision themselves, and that does not make it any easier to deal with. In fact, it makes it much more difficult. I’ve dealt with a variety of issues including financial and health (both physical and mental). I recently started working with a therapist again through the VA.
I’m not looking for sympathy with this post; rather I am simply pointing out that I get it. Life has been hard. So, how are you holding up?
Are you thriving in these hard times? Fantastic. Remember that someone you know is not and could use a hand.
Are you surviving? Be thankful that you’re keeping your head above water, and while you work to help those who are struggling, know that you can ask for help too. It doesn’t mean you’re weak.
Are you struggling? Please accept the hands that are offered to you. It can make far more of a difference than you know.
Are you in crisis? ASK FOR HELP NOW! Sometimes we don’t know that you’re in crisis, and we would love to help if you would simply ask.
Remember one major thing. No matter where you are on this spectrum, you are amazing just the way you are. Also, remember that we need each other. There’s no shame in asking for help wherever you are on this scale. You are loved. You are valued. And you matter. Write that down and tape it to your mirror if you need to.
